This week I had the pleasure of seeing the eldest son of the all-time Legend, Bob Marley. With dreads down to his knees, Ziggy Marley took the stage with a thunderous ovation. The crowd sang along enthusiastically as they danced and appeared reggae savvy about the floor. The whole crowd was one, united in celebration, as they forgot whatever troubles bothered them prior to entering Ziggy’s reggae world. It was amazing to see …and hear. Ziggy ended the show with a musical snack for us, playing a few of his father’s hits, including “Get Up Stand Up”. The crowd went wild, knew all the words and sang in unison –
everyone caught up in an unexplained euphoria. It was at that moment I closed my eyes and wished I was on a beach somewhere. Sand under my feet instead of concrete and Ziggy ringing in my ears just a few feet away. It gave me a new appreciation for peace and happiness and I will wear my Wild and Free tee with pride, atop of my bikini of course. Well done Ziggy, I will never miss another show!
